Additional $12.8 million from hospital sale transferred to New Hanover Community Endowment

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The New Hanover Community Endowment has received a $12.8 million transfer from NHW Healthcare, Inc., the entity managing the wind-down process from the sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC). This latest transfer continues New Hanover County’s commitment to investing in the long-term well-being of the community.

These funds, originally set aside to cover liabilities related to the hospital’s sale, are now being directed to The Endowment as matters related to the wind-down process are resolved. With this transfer, the total amount allocated to The Endowment has reached approximately $1.35 billion.

“The scale of this investment in our community is hard to overstate,” said New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Chair Bill Rivenbark. “This investment is dedicated to strengthening our county, both now and for future generations, and is an extraordinary legacy. This is exactly what the sale was meant to achieve – a lasting benefit that will continue to serve our residents in meaningful ways.”
